Nick Kurtz was the second highest ranked left-handed hitting prospect entering the 2024 MLB draft, and has thus far performed the best among any 2024 draft pick. Kurtz advanced as high as Double-A Midland following the draft and posted an astounding 1.283 OPS over 50 plate appearances at Double-A and Low-A Stockton. It is a small sample size, but Kurtz has as good a shot as anybody to sustain that level of success due to his elite combination of hit and power. At Wake Forest last year, he posted a 30.0 BB% (yes, you read that right) to just a 16.2 K%, while slugging .763 with a .457 ISO. Kurtz is advanced as anyone from the left side of the plate and also plays above-average defense at first base. Turning 22 in less than a month, Kurtz could very possibly be on a trajectory towards debuting in Sacramento as early as this year if he continues to play at a high level.
