While it does seem like Jordan Lawlar has been a top prospect for the last three years now (because he has), it looks like 2025 is finally the season he will get regular playing time in Arizona. He was injured for a large part of 2024, hence only 104 plate appearances, but is healthy headed into spring training where he might have an opportunity to earn the starting shortstop job in the desert. He has hit well at every level of the minors thus far and has a quick cup of coffee at the big league level, including an at-bat in the World Series, so there’s no doubt that he’s ready for the show. Even if the bat takes time to adjust, the Diamondbacks will get a lot of value from his glove and legs from day one. He’s stolen a total of 164 bases since his pro debut, which is really just two full seasons despite entering Arizona’s system in 2021. Over a healthy 130 to 140 game season, this is an easy 40+ SB threat. There isn’t a whole lot not to like in Lawlar’s profile. The power lacked in 2024, likely due to his nagging injuries, but he does have a 20 home run season under his belt, including a lifetime SLG of .501 and an ISO of .208.
