As a two-way standout for the Florida Gators, Jac Caglianone was one of the most polarizing figures in college baseball in 2024. He earned All-SEC first team and All-American first team honors in both his sophomore and junior seasons at Florida which ultimately led to Caglianone being selected 6th overall in the 2024 draft by the Royals. While he had the upside to continue pitching, he has decided to be a full-time hitter which is where he finds more of his value anyway. Caglianone had some of the best raw power in the 2024 draft and really cleaned up his swing decisions and plate discipline in 2024, leading many people to believe he has a lot more game power to tap into. His numbers in his first stint in pro ball weren’t eye-popping by any means, but he showed some promise. I’ve said it before - I don’t put much stock into prospects numbers in their first pro season, post-draft. Despite Caglianone’s first base profile, he is a very good athlete and may get some run in the outfield down the road. I don’t believe he’s a slugger that will be confined to first base for his career.
