In a pretty deep Mariners farm system, Colt Emerson comes in ranked first overall at just 19 years old. Due to an oblique injury, Emerson was only on the field for roughly half of 2024, but has done nothing but hit since joining the Mariners nonetheless. In his 114 plate appearances post-draft in 2023 between the complex league and Low-A Modesto, Emerson posted a slash line of .374/.496/.549. He opened up the 2024 season in Modesto once again where he put together an .867 OPS in 193 plate appearances before his promotion to High-A Everett. Emerson struggled during his time in High-A, but that was likely due to his oblique injury. Granted he opens 2025 in High-A, a healthy Emerson will look a lot different. He has one of the better hit tools among all minor league hitters while he still has a lot of time to grow into his 6’0” frame to add more power. He has mainly played shortstop but has gotten reps at both third and second, but it is believed Emerson has the athleticism to stick at short. Don’t let the 50 grade run tool fool you either as he has stolen a total of 23 bases in just 94 minor league games.
