After entering the Pirates system in 2021 as a third round prep arm in the draft, Chandler has joined the recent list of Pirates minor league pitchers to shoot up prospect rankings. By no means has Chandler flown through Pittsburgh’s system, but he has been on a solid trajectory towards the big leagues. You can see his 2024 numbers across Double-A Altoona and Triple-A Indianapolis above, but it was really his seven start stretch at the end of 2024 at Triple-A that caught the attention of many baseball fans. In 39.1 innings, Chandler posted a 1.83 ERA, 2.78 FIP, 1.04 WHIP, and a 24.5 K-BB% - all of which are well above average for Triple-A pitchers. His fastball is his bread and butter and is one of the best fastball offerings in all of minor league baseball. On top of that, Chandler has multiple above average secondaries, which sets him up to be an impact starter at the next level. He’s currently projected to open the season in Triple-A, but will likely join fellow talented right handed pitchers, Paul Skenes and Jared Jones in the Pirates rotation at some point in 2024.
