Braden Montgomery was one of just two 2024 draft prospects on this top 50 list that didn’t get to debut at the professional level after the draft. Montgomery broke his ankle in one of Texas A&M’s super regional games and was out for the remainder of the season. However, I don’t believe this should drop his stock as a top prospect in baseball. Montgomery was one of the most all-around talented players in the 2024 draft. He can hit for power from both sides of the plate and also possesses a 70 grade arm in right field. It was quite the surprise to see him drop all the way to 12th overall in the draft as he had one of the higher ceilings among all draft prospects. He was traded over to the White Sox from the Red Sox in the Garrett Crochet deal this winter, so Montgomery joins a solid crop of prospects looking to turn fortunes around on the Southside of Chicago in the coming seasons.
