Andrew Painter is a tough prospect to forecast at the moment due to the fact he hasn’t pitched in a regular season baseball game since 2022. Had he not gone down to Tommy John surgery, there is little doubt that the right-handed flame thrower would have been pitching in Philadelphia by now. Painter made his return to the mound at the Arizona Fall League in October and seemingly picked right back up where he left off, striking out 18 batters in 15.2 innings to the tune of a 2.30 ERA. Painter boasts one of the best fastball/slider combinations in the game, running his fastball up to 100 mph along with an upper-80s cutter-like slider. His changeup is a plus pitch as well and also flashes a curveball from time to time. His arsenal paired with his easy delivery and starter’s build makes him a prime candidate to be an ace in Philadelphia in the coming years.
